How to Preserve Leaves
By: Rebekah Meier
I found a way to preserve leaves and flowers I collect every fall. Follow along and I will show you how I used Mixed Media Foam Sheets to permanently save them. I made a trio of leaf squares of different varieties.
Here a just a sample of my leaves. The “raggy” the better. I like them to have character!
Peel one side of Mixed Media Foam film.
Center leaf onto the sticky foam.
Apply one coat of crackle glaze onto leaf and background. Let dry completely.
Keep adding paint colors, drying between applications.
Once paints are applied, add a coat of satin varnish to seal the project.
Outline leaf with black pastel pencil.
For the maple leaf, I also incorporated my Rosetta stencil from The Crafters Workshop. Simply apply molding paste through the stencil before applying the crackle glaze.
