Coffee Filter Art applied to a journal

It was a good design day when I came up with the idea to use inexpensive coffee filters for my mixed media art.  I like that the filters are paper and can be painted, stamped, and stenciled upon and  when applied to a surface, such as a journal, it will show what is underneath.   Each will be different and unique to each student as they put their own aesthetic into the mix.  A few other techniques will be saved for those of you that take my class!  You can also apply them onto a canvas or use them for decoupage.   The possibilities are endless on how you can create and use them.    I will have on hand my stencils from my TCW stencil line for students to use.  Check back tomorrow and I will post about Fragile Fusion!

CHA Mega Show 2015- The Crafter’s Workshop New Releases

With Jaime Echt owner of The Crafter's Workshop

With Jaime Echt, owner of The Crafter’s Workshop

So many great and exciting things happened at the 2015 CHA mega show.  I released 20 new stencil designs with The Crafter’s Workshop.  For the first time I designed smaller, 4″ stencils that I call Rebekah’s Remnants.

It is always a pleasure working with Jaime Echt  from The Crafters Workshop!  They will be available here, here, and here.   Here are my models with the  stencil designs.  Please take a look and let me know what you would create with them!

I am so happy to be teaching a class at the upcoming CHA Mega Show 2015 in Anaheim, CA. The class is sponsored by Fabric Editions. CHA will be here before we know it. The details of my class are listed below. The technique you will learn is very unique, and combines my two favorite materials, paper and fabric. I have designed some of the components for this class as well, including a new stencil of mine from The Crafters Workshop for which I am very excited!  Stop by the Fabric Editions booth #2013 to create a make-in-take,  and ask more about the class.

My pile of completed ATC’s

My friend, Lisa Fulmer, has a new book called Craft Your Stash which is launching October 1, 2014!  Lisa has designed many projects  inspiring us to put a dent in our stash of of supplies.  There are so many cool projects to pick from.   Two of my favorite projects are  Altered CD Art and Door Plaque, but my all time favorite is creating ATC’s.  Lisa has written a great technique for using up waste paint left over from previous projects.  For myATC’s I could not choose just one of the techniques, so I used them all.  The techniques,  Stencil It, Streak it, Sponge It, and Stamp It were so fun, that I spent hours creating them!    First I dug out my stencils and the other supplies, followed Lisa’s directions and wala!    ATC’s are so simple and make great use of you stash supplies.  I hope you will have as much fun as I have creating!

Check out  www.craftyourstash.com for all kinds of information and giveaway!   Be sure to LIKE the Craft your Stash fb page and be entered to win a crafty stash of cool products, including  Lisa’s book.

Signed copies of Craft Your Stash are available here.  Also available at local craft and book stores.

Reverse Stenciled Technique, Blog Hop, And Giveaway!

Canvas pillow

I am so excited to be hosting my first blog hop using my stencils designs from The Crafter’s Workshop.  Most of my stencils are collage in style.  Collage being my favorite medium, whether in paper, fabric or both combined.  My other stencils are inspired by circles and Mandala (I love the art form) designs.  Mandala’s for those not wanting to draw their own.

I sent four 6″ mandala inspired  stencils to nine of my creative friends.  Be sure and visit each of their sites, I can assure you each designer’s creation will be awesome, unique, and varied in their mediums.  I can’t wait to see what they come up with.

I had a hard time deciding what I wanted my project to be.  Sometimes thats the way it is, when you can create anything you want!  Deciding upon a reverse stenciling technique, I went with demonstrating  how a stencil can be used to create a print.  Bypassing our dreary spring, summer has been on my mind.  Thinking how nice and warm, sunny weather will be.  I chose a canvas pillow that can be used both inside or outside.

What do you create with stencils?  Answer the question by leaving a comment below, and one lucky person will win my four new stencils, used for the blog hop!  Enjoy the techniques and projects created  all week by the talented designers in the hop. The random winner will be announced Saturday April 19, 2014.
